Welwyn Hatfield Liberal Democrat Borough Councillors

A Year of Change in Welwyn Hatfield - 12 Months Later

The Local Elections in Welwyn Hatfield on May 4th 2023, Welhat Lib Dems win extra seats, to enable us to have 14 Borough Councillors. This result saw huge changes in the council, with the Conservatives finally losing control after 20 long years.....

Following the elections and subsequent talks with our counterparts in the Labour group; on 19th May 2023 we signed a historic Joint Administration Agreement, to take control of Welwyn Hatfield Borough council.

Because we were the larger party, Paul Zukowskyj adopted the position of Leader of the Council, when the new adminstration was formed on Monday 22nd May. Following this the cabinet positions were formalised and we have now succesfully led the council for almost a year.

Almost a year later, and we believe that the council is becoming the ‘can do’ organisation that we hoped it would be, but it is a not there yet. In order for it to become a better, stronger organisation for the benefit of the residents of the borough we need a strong performance at the 2024 Local Elections and to increase our number of elected members. Every single one of our councillors, candidates, activsists and colunteers is working to make this happen on May 2nd 2024.
